Warm on the water, from the towpath to the pontoon

The same small box that warms a van in a layby warms a boat on its mooring. SmartConnect installs inline between your diesel heater and its existing panel, or replaces the panel outright, and bridges it to the internet over 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth.

On a narrowboat iced into the cut, or a yacht swinging off the pontoon, that means starting the heater from the pub, watching the cabin temperature climb, and stepping aboard warm and dry: no cold walk down the towpath to light it.

It detects which install you've chosen (pass-through or panel replace) and configures itself.

Control from anywhere

Start the heater from the marina office, the towpath pub, or three counties away. Phone app or web dashboard over 4G (LTE‑M / NB‑IoT), no marina WiFi needed.

Uses your boat's internet first

If the boat already has internet (a marina WiFi contract or an onboard router), SmartConnect uses it. Beyond that, it falls back to 4G automatically, which covers most moorings and most stretches of canal.

Live vitals, not a guess

Heater state, cabin temperature and battery voltage stream to the app in real time: a live connection, not a status you have to visit the boat to confirm.

Frost protection, not just weatherproofing

Built for a damp bilge or a cold engine bay: universal 12 V / 24 V, surge and load-dump protected, in an IP44-sealed enclosure. When cabin temperature nears freezing, SmartConnect can start the heater automatically, protecting hoses, water systems and kit left aboard over winter.

Narrowboats, yachts and sub-33ft coastal craft: if it carries an Autoterm or Planar diesel heater, SmartConnect is built to work with it.

Can I check my boat's heater from home?

Yes. SmartConnect connects your boat's Autoterm or Planar diesel heater to 4G, so you can check it's running, see the cabin temperature and switch it on or off from your sofa, your office, or the other side of the country. No need to be aboard, or even at the marina.

Does it work on a narrowboat, not just a yacht?

Yes. Narrowboats are one of the two main craft types SmartConnect is built for, alongside yachts and other sub-33ft sailing and motor craft. Whether the boat's iced into the cut for winter or swinging on a river mooring, the install and the app are the same.

Will it monitor battery voltage while I'm away?

Yes. Battery voltage is one of the live readings in the app alongside heater state and temperature, so you can catch a flat leisure battery or a charging fault before it becomes a reason the heater's stopped running when you next check in.

Can it protect my boat from frost while I'm away for weeks?

Frost protection is one of the reasons to fit SmartConnect: when cabin temperature nears freezing, it can start the heater automatically, without you needing to trigger it, protecting hoses, water systems and kit left aboard. Because SmartConnect also keeps a live connection over 4G rather than relying on marina WiFi, you can check in yourself too, confirming it's actually running and watching cabin temperature and battery voltage without a marina visit.

Does it need marina WiFi?

No. If your boat already has internet (a marina WiFi contract or an onboard router), SmartConnect uses that first. Where there's none, which is most moorings and most narrowboat cuts, it falls back to 4G cellular (LTE-M / NB-IoT) automatically.
